At the halfway point of EXPO 2025, the Austria pavilion is one of the crowd-pullers at the world exhibition in Osaka. Right from the start, the spectacular wooden spiral in the form of an oversized musical band caused quite a stir and quickly became a sought-after photo motif. The pavilion now also delights around 6,300 visitors every day with a varied programme and culinary highlights.
The highlight to date was Austria's Nation Day on 23 May 2025, which was attended by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, Minister of Economic Affairs Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, the head of AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA, Michael Otter, and even the Japanese Crown Princess Kiko of Akishino. The highlight for the 250 or so invited guests was the performance by the Vienna Boys' Choir, accompanied by Mozart's original violin.
Since the opening, 31 events have already taken place with a total of 1,800 guests. These have included high-ranking delegations from Lower and Upper Austria, Salzburg and Styria. Further events with a cultural, economic or scientific focus are also planned for the autumn. Overall, the EXPO reached the milestone of 10 million guests shortly before the halfway point, most of whom came from Japan and Asia.
