The Bösendorfer piano manufactory in Wiener Neustadt created a designer grand piano especially for EXPO 2025 in Osaka, which is intended to represent local craftsmanship as well as the central role of culture in Austria and Lower Austria.
The Bösendorfer grand piano bears the name ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ and is a tribute to the world-famous Japanese artwork of the same name by Katsushika Hokusai, which is often referred to as the ‘Mona Lisa of Asia’.
Each of the only 16 instruments in this edition is a handcrafted masterpiece.
The extraordinary Bösendorfer grand piano is equipped with the innovative Bösendorfer Vienna Concert (VC) technology. The highest quality materials and Austrian spruce resonance wood characterise the brilliant sound and offer optimum playability, maximum precision and an impressive sound spectrum. Disklavier technology is also integrated, which, controlled via an app, can faithfully reproduce masterpieces of piano literature. The keys move automatically and every single note and string is played with the same precision and virtuosity as by the artist himself.
