The departments JASEC (Japan Austrian Science Exchange Center), ITI (Interdisciplinary Structural Design and Timber Engineering) and HuE (Timber Engineering and Design) at Vienna University of Technology are investigating the facets of traditional and innovative timber construction. By means of Austrian and Japanese construction methods, it has been demonstrated that traditional techniques can be utilised sustainably and efficiently by deploying modern technologies.
