The Austrian innovation SURALIS is a sensor-based add-on device that transforms any prosthesis into a "sentient prosthesis" as it enhances gait security and reduces phantom pain. Moreover, the HYPERION cuff solution also provides a bionic effect for non-prosthetic leg amputees (wheelchair, crutches). Future developments are to expand the sensory feedback by providing audio and video signals for optimal embodiment.
